Only a week to go!

Yes it is only a week to go before the May Bank holiday, and our first public events of the year. The first is on Saturday 30th April, at the 
Surrey Heath Show, where there will be classic cars, all sorts of craft stalls, a beer tent, food stalls local and not so local business, fairground attractions for the kids, arena shows and displays, and of course Battlefield south for the not so small children of 8 years old and over. As part of our charitable works, we will also be collecting for The Royal British Legion, and The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF the Soldiers Charity). So if you don’t want to play please add some loose change to the collection buckets which will be available in our tent. The event is being held at Frimley lodge park, and starts at 10 am closing at 4:30pm. All details and ticket sales can be found on their web site (click here)
Then on Sunday 01st May we are at the Abingdon Air and Country show. Being held on the old RAF Abingdon airfield, this is one of the first air shows of the year, and is always a great day out. Besides static aircraft displays with cockpits to sit in, a fully packed three hour air display, ground simulators, fun fair rides, Tank rides, craft and food stalls and live music . As always funds raised at the show will be going to help support the Air Ambulance, which is a worthy cause in itself. As The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF the Soldiers Charity) will have their own presence at the show we will be only collecting for the Royal British Legion. Moving on to Bank Holiday Monday (2nd May) we will be at St Mary’s Church Fratton, Portsmouth, for their community Fayre. 
The long standing event is in support of local charities and causes, is a must attend for the whole family. There will be fun fair rides, craft and food stalls, arena shows, Beer Tent and much much more, including Battlefield South. Again we will be collecting for the RBL and ABF. So even if you don’t wish to play please drop by and pop some loose change into the collection buckets. For more information click here

The season starts here!

With less than 30 Days to go to our first public event of the season we are gearing up and testing all the show equipment. This year we are kicking off with a marathon week end, starting at the Surrey Heath Show, on Saturday 30 April.
The Surrey Heath show as usual is being held at Frimley Lodge Park, is open from 10am to 4pm, As always there will be attractions for the whole family with classic vehicles, food, drink and craft stalls, local radio, and arena shows. There is lots for the younger children, with inflatable rides, climbing wall, the resident miniature railway, and of course for the older children (8 to 80 years of age) Battlefield South. Entry is free (£3 for parking), so if you are in the area why not pop along, and have a look around.
On the 1st May, we are off to the Abingdon Air and country Show. Held at the Abingdon Airfield this is a great day out, with both air and ground displays. The air displays Include gyro copters, spitfires, helicopters and a host of other aircraft. The ground displays include Flight simulators, fun fair rides, tank rides and of course Battlefield South. With profits from the show go to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, it is a must. The day starts at 10 am and closes at 5:30 pm. Tickets prices are £12 for adults and £8 for those 65 years and over and £4 for 5-15 year olds. Tickets can be purchased from their web site (click here) of you can pay at the gate on the day.
Then to round off the bank holiday weekend, on 2nd May we will be at the St Mary’s church community fayre at St Mary’s Church , Fratton. As always profits we be going to local community funds. Entry is free, and there are craft, food and cake stalls, funfair rides, a beer tent, area events and displays , live music, and Battlefield South. The day starts at 10 am and closes at 4 pm. It is a great day out, and the local causes are well worth the fun to be had.

Portsmouth Dragon Boat Race 3rd and 4th October 2015

It coming and its coming soon! The postponed Portsmouth Dragon boat race organised by the Portsmouth & Southsea and Southsea Castle rotary clubs will be held at IBM’s Portsmouth North Harbour on 3rd and 4th October 2015.
The event was postponed earlier in the year due to blue algae in the water which we are assured has dissipated and as such is no longer a health issue. As always there will be lots for people to do besides watch the racing, including various types of stalls, Archery, inflatable attractions and Battlefield South. Also this is currently our last public event for this year, so if you don’t want to miss out you best come on down. The days start at 10 am and finish at about 4:30 pm each day, parking is free as is entrance for spectators. A big weekend coming up 12 & 13 September

On the 12 & 13 of September, Battlefield South will be attending what is likely to be our biggest event of the year. Yes it is the Old Sarum Air Show. Not only will we be providing our Laser tag game, but hope to be staffing the H4H charity stall. This is a great honour, as H4H is one of our nominated charities, and we are really looking forward to it.
The show also promises to be outstanding, and historic as the Avro Vulcan XH588 will be appearing and hopefully providing a flypast with the Sally B B17. This is scheduled to be the Vulcan’s last display on the south coast prior to its retirement from displays and flying at the end of the season. 
In addition to these two great aircraft with be displays by Spitfires, Hurricanes, biplanes and tri planes of the Great War Display Team, the Tiger Club Turb Team, Pitts S1S, Swordfish Torpedo Bomber, The Calidus Autogyro and so much more..
Your ticket not only allows you entry to the show but also to the museum and all the ground displays, which besides Battlefield South are far too numerous to mention here.
We should remind you though that this is a ticket only event, and there are no ticket purchases on gate. So if you want to be part of something historic, you best get in and get your tickets while they are still available. Canford Magna 30 August 2015

A months rain in just a few hours, and that was just last Sunday. So a big thanks to all who ventured out Sunday afternoon to support the Sky Balloons event. I hope you stayed dryer than we did.
But don’t let that put you off, we are out and about again this weekend. This time at the Family Fun Day being held at the The Hamworthy Club, Magna road, Canford Magna, Dorset. The profits will go to local charities and local area to help the community. There will be stalls or all kinds, with food drink, arts and crafts, Pepper Pig, Kids wonder play area, BBQ live entertainment and Battlefield South. The events starts at 11 am and due to finish at 6pm, but don’t leave it too late or you will miss all the fun.
Moving on from this weekend, here is just a quick reminder that we will be at the Old Sarum Air Show, on 12 & 13 September. There will be a whole host of aircraft including Spitfires, Hurricanes, The Sally B B17 Bomber, Autogyro, the Great war display team, and much more. However more than that, this is the last show on the south coast which has been able to book the Avro Vulcan XH558 and therefore, may be the last opportunity to see this amazing war bird on the south coast ever! As after this season it is doubtful that she will ever fly again. This is due to parts and support is being withdrawn by the companies which keep her going. We have also been asked to remind you that this is a ticket only show, and as tickets are limited I would recommend you get your tickets now.
