Staff required

Do you live in the Warsash Area?   Are you looking to increase your pocket money?

Battlefield South (MMW Events Ltd) are looking to augment their staff levels for the new season starting in May 2020.

The work includes (but is not restricted to) helping to load equipment, travel to and set up events, dress and brief clients, take payments, marshal games, use the equipment and occasionally act as a target during games. This is general weekends, and there are some overnights away (where food and accommodation is supplied). The days can be long and tiring, due to traveling to and from events.

It is a great way to increase your confidence, communication and team work skills, as well as obtain work experience, but mostly have fun!  If you are interested and would like to apply or just for more information,

Capel Military Vehicle Show 2019

AFD Brighton 2019

Firstly a big thank you to all who turned out to support not only
us at St Dunstan’s (Blind Veterans UK) in Brighton, last week end, but to everyone who turned out to all the other Armed Forces Day events all over the country.

MoviSoviet re enactors Living historyng forward, there is another big weekend
coming in the form of the Capel Vintage Military Vehicle Show. As always, it is being  held at Aldhurst Farm,
Temple Lane, Capel, near Dorking (RH5 5HJ). Tickets are still available both for day and weekend visits, although I understand camping pitches are getting short, (at time of writing). It is a fun packed weekend full of Tanks, T72 crushing a carand soft skinned military vehicles, living history groups, and re-enactors from mainly the second World War right up to almost present day. In addition, there will no doubt be a chinook helicopter and many other displays. Additionally  there will be live music and singing, a funfair and inflatable rides and not forgetting the beer tent for those cool refreshments! It really is a cracking weekend away and well worth a visit.

Armed Forces Day at ST Dunstan’s!

Well last weekend slipped through the net, and this weekend is nearly upon us. So firstly, Many thanks to the Basingstoke Rotary Club for inviting us to join them at the Basingstoke and North Hants Cricket ground for their Family Fun Day, (which lasted all weekend). Luckily the weather stayed sunny on Saturday and warm but over cast on Sunday. However with no rain to dampen the spirits a great weekend was had by all.

Looking forward to this weekend, on Friday we will as always be attending Medina School Fete, at Medina School, Medina road, Cosham. It is generally a small affair which runs between 2pm and 4 pm, however we are always please to be there and help raise money for the school.

Then on Sunday we will be at St Dunstan’s Blind Hospital, in Ovingdean, Brighton, BN2 7BS. Parking and entrance is free, and if it is half as good as last year it should be a cracking day. There are arena shows, and lots of activities and stalls to wander around. Set in the grounds of St Dunstan’s Hospital for Blind Veterans, it is great fun and always a privilege to attend. As such we look forward to seeing you there!

It is also hopped that there will be a flypast of the Battle of Brittan Memorial Flight, Hopefully including a Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster. There will also be a “Sail Past” of vintage boats and ships. The whole event is free to attend on both days. However if you at are interested in 1940 music and dance there is a dance night on Saturday starting at 7pm and ending at 10:30 pm. This is a ticket only evening as there is only room for 750 people, discounted tickets can still be purchased (at time of writing) using the discount code “Swing Dance”. Tickets can be purchased from
www.eventbrite.co.uk

or the Tourist Information Centre.

On Sunday 2 June it all happens again with the addition of a remembrance parade with a guard from HMS Sultan commemorating all those that fell during the war, (Including: the playing of   Last post, followed by a minutes silence, and then the playing of Reveille).  The parade starts at about 10:45 and the service will be held near to the Canadian memorial at 11am on the promenade and attended by some VIPs.

There will be something for everyone in the family and both days promise to be a great day out.

War Time Wallop 2019

What a show last week was at the Midlands Air Festival with in close to 600 games played across the Saturday and Sunday the team was kept very busy.

Wartime wallop 2019Yes the annual show at The Museum of Army Flying at the home of the Army Air Corp Middle Wallop is on again, and following last year’s success, is looking to be bigger and better than ever. The day starts at 10am and closes at 4:30 pm. Parking is (we believe) free,  as always. There will be the usual craft stalls and Visitor programmefood stalls with live music and singing entertainment, from the “Decibelles”  and Dancing from the “Andover Lindyhoppers”.  Additionally there will be inflatable rides, demonstrations of bomb disposal, historic aircraft, and a hot air balloon. Not  to mention right at the end of the field Battlefield South Mobile Laser Tag game which like last year is included in you entre price.

It really is a packed event and the admission fee includes entrance to the newly refurbished Museum with much more aircraft, and displays.
