Five days to go and counting.

There are only five days to go before we set off for our big end of May Bank Holiday weekend !

Town Park Festival posterOur first stop on Saturday 27 May, is Alton Town Park for the Alton Town Festival. The day opens at 10am entrance is free and the event closes at 6pm There will be food, beverage, and craft stalls, inflatable attractions, fair rides, live music from amongst others “Simpleton Tunsmith” and of course Battlefield South. IT is a fun day out so if you are in the area, come over to the park and have some fun.

Gurkha-Cup-2017Then we have a quick de rig and it is over to Queens Avenue, Aldershot where we are attending the Gurkha Cup on Sunday 29th. This is a massive event with all sorts of attractions and a football competition. The colour and atmosphere is truly amazing. The Day (and the football) kicks off at 10am and runs through to 5pm and includes a Free Fall Parachute display by “The Silver Stars” It is the display team of the Royal Logistic Corp, and was formed from the teams of the old RAOC team ( The Cannon Balls at least that’s what we called them) and The Silver Stars of the Royal Corp of Transport. The Silver Stars are the oldest British Military parachute display team and has a great heritage. This year is the 15 anniversary and promises to be the biggest and grandest yet.  For more details visit the website  www.Gurkhacupuk.com  

After the We close it is another quick de rig, and we are off again. This time, we are off to the home of the Army Air Corp at Middle Wallop. The event “War Time Wallop” held and run by the Museum of Army Flying on Monday 29 May will have all the usual food, beverages and Craft stalls, alongside re enactors / living history, a firing field gun, military vehicles, military aircraft, including an Apache Attack helicopter, and of course Battlefield South. There is a chance that they will be a flyby including a Scout / Wasp helicopter. IMG_8913The entrance price includes the museum which is well worth a visit by itself. We understand parking is free. Abingdon Air and Country Show 2017

This week end is the Abingdon Air and Country Show 2017, and what a show it promises to be. There will be static aircraft on display, along with a three hour action packed Air display, including, Westland Wasp 1960s ex Royal Naval Helicopter, RF4 Motorglider aerobatic display, Antonov AN-2 Russian built transport x2, Great War Display Team (World War One types), P51 Mustang “Tall in the Saddle”, Calidus Autogyro . As always there is a  funfair with all kinds of rides, craft, food and drink stalls, military displays, re enactment displays,  Steam engines, and not forgetting  Battlefield South who will be there all day. The event starts at 10 am and closes at 5.30 pm. Steam engineParking is free and tickets for the show can be purchased in advance from their web site ( http://www.abingdonairandcountry.co.uk ), or at the gate on the day. It really is a great day out for the whole family.
