highclere 1After a brief European tour to Germany in support of British Army units in Fallingbostel garrison, ande a very brief visit to Paderborn, yet another the big weekend is fast approaching. So what better way to spend Sunday 03 August, than paying a visit to Highclere castle, (where Downton Abby is filmed). Not only are there the usual attractions of the very impressive building and lovely grounds, Egyptian  exhibition, but on Sunday there is the added attraction of their “Heroes at Highclere” event. There will be charity football, singing, dancing, and general fun making, and that’s just from the battlefield South  team. Ble5_cropImageSliderThe whole weekend is being held in aid of various Military charities, like the Royal British Legion, Combat Stress, and The Army Benevolent Fund. With air displays and fly past by a spitfire, Mustang,and the “Sally B” flying fortress.  The red devils, and static ground displays, Calvary  demonstrations, Reading pipes and Drums, as well as arts and crafts, and of  course Battlefield South with its outdoor laser battle game with replica FN P90 and H&K MP7 weapons.

Heroes at Highclere with Battlefield South

On the Sunday 3rd August,  event in support of The Royal British Legion, The Army Benevolent  Fund, Combat stress, and Oxfam. This is the culmination of a whole weekend entertainment with “Battle Ble5_cropImageSliderProms” on Saturday 2nd August. which is a picnic with open air concert of classical music, and 193 cannons. With  and a firework finale. There is also a very emotive and carefully choreographed Spitfire aerial display,  and WW1 cavalry skill at arms display.

Followed on Sunday 3rd of August by a mass of entertainment. Battle-Proms_Cavalry-displays_cropImageSliderThere is music from the Spitfire Sisters, Military Wives Choir, Newbury Rock Choir and much more on the Viking Cruse Stage. WW1 Cavalry Skill at arms display, the Reading Pipes and Drums on the Castle Piece, football on the Bayer Football arena, The Red Devils, and DE Haviland Tiger 9 display, The Great war display team, Spitfire and Mustang, a B17 (The Sally B) flying Fortress in the air. More music in the  Berkshire Brewery’s Tent, a speakers Tent, Arts & crafts stalls And not forgetting Battlefield South on the picnic area in front of the castle and just to the right behind the folly. Bridgemary Carnival 19th July 2014

For all our avid followers, I am sure you don’t need reminding that bridgemary carnival 2014Battlefield South will be attending The Bridgemary Carnival tomorrow 19th July 2014. Being held at Bridgemary School, there is a procession, arts & craft stalls, sweet stalls, Bouncy castles and of course Battlefield South. Hedge End Carnival and The Merchistoun Hall Summer Fair.

Hedge End Carnival Lorries  It’s another busy couple of weeks for Battlefield South, with lots to do and places to go. Firstly on Saturday 5 July Battlefield South is attending the Hedge End Carnival, being held at Greta Park, Upper Northam Road, Hedge End. There is a carnival procession starting from St Johns Road and finishing at the park, bouncy castles, food concessions, a fun fair, arts and craft stalls, live music and of course Battlefield South.  Events in the park Kick off at about 12:00, so come along for a fun day out which culminates with a fire work display. Merchistoun Hall in the Summer 1Then on Sunday for those fans on the Portsmouth side of our catchment area, Battlefield South will be at the Horndean community centre, Merchistoun Hall, (106 Portsmouth Road, Horndean, PO8 9LJ) for their summer Fair and Fun day. The day is free to enter with Arts and crafts, Bouncy castles, food concessions, tea room, lots of traders, and Battlefield South. The fun day starts at 10:00 Merchistoun Hall Open Day(10 am) and ends at 17:00 (5 pm) So why not pop in and have some fun .  Added to this on Saturday 12 July and on Sunday 13 July Battlefield South will be at the South Downs wood Fair & Country Show. Being held at The Queen Elizabeth Country Park, (Gravel Hill, Horndean, Hampshire PO8 0QE). Wood-Fair-Montage-for-Home-PageWhat a week end that looks to be. With  Falconry displays, Coppice crafts, Heavy Horses, arts & craft displays and stalls, Bouncy castles, climbing walls, Punch and Judy, Donkey rides, circus shows and Battlefield South.  Gates open at 10:00 (10 am) and finish at 17:00 (5 pm) each day.

Parking is free, and if you come and see us at hedge end or Merchistoun Hall you could get a voucher for £1 off the entry price, (Kids go free).

Hopeful for dry weather next weekend

Yesterday was a bit wet, and to be honest didn’t go quite as planned. So many thanks to those who braved the thunderstorms, and rain to support Battlefield South, and The Armed Forces at The Aldershot  Military Festival (The Army Show) 2014.  

 

For those who were unable to travel to Aldershot, don’t worry next week end is planned to be just as fun packed, but a little closer. On Saturday 5 July  Battlefield South will be at the Hedge End Summer Carnival. The carnival procession starts at 14:15 hours (2.15 pm) from St John’s Road, but the stalls at Greta Park Upper Northam Road, will be open much earlier. There is live music, lots of stalls, Bouncy castles, and alike and fireworks at the end of the day. Entry is  £1 for adults and 50p for children. Then On Sunday  6 July Battlefield South will be at the Merchistoun Hall, Horndean for their Summer Fair. Again there are lot of activities, with Bouncy castles, craft stalls, Food stalls, and battlefield South.
