As we fast approach the end of January, we are now busy looking at events and booking dates for the forth coming show and fete season. As always it would appear that everyone wants to have their events on the same weekend, so as usual some are going to be disappointed, although if it is a two day event we do try to attend at least one day.
So if you have an event or a birthday coming up (Between April and September) please let us know as soon as possible. We would hate to disappoint you.
That said we are kicking off early in April, (5 April to be precise). We will be back at Highclere Castle for their annual Easter egg hunt. This is a great event, with lots of stalls and attractions, so if you are looking for something different to do on Easter Sunday, why not come along and have fun in the grounds of Highclere (Downton Abby) Castle. You could even get some free chocolate!

The summer season is almost at an end and with that the end of summer shows, festivals, carnivals and events. That is not to say we won’t still be covering corporate events and private parties, however our summer of fun is almost at an end. But before that here are a couple of dates for you, (unless you have an event you would like us to attend).
Firstly if you are a member (or even if you are not) the Royal British Legion Riders Branch are holding a “Bunny Bash” this coming week end at BOSC, Bolley Avenue , Bordon Hampshire , GU35 9HG. This is a camping event on Friday 12, with festival and carnival type entertainment on Saturday 13 (With Battlefield South in attendance of course). Entertainment starts at about 10 am and goes on until late, with the opportunity to stay (camping) over night again and departing on Sunday 14. Unfortunately due to other commitments Battlefield South will only be there on the Saturday. Entrance and camping (we are lead to believe ) are free, and proceeds from the event going to the branch fund and the RBL.
Then on Sunday 14 September we have an event a little closer to home at the Hiltingbury Extravaganza , near chandlers Ford. The event is taking place on Hiltingbury Recreation ground, Hiltingbury Road, Chandlers’s Ford SO53 5NP. And is to be a mass of stalls, rides, Music, all the fun of the fair, and of course Battlefield South. With everything starting at 12:00 and ending at 17:00 (ish). This is the biggest extravaganza yet so if you have been before this will be better, and if you haven’t, it is not to be missed.

What an event “Heroes at Highclere” was last weekend, and Battlefield South was right in the thick of it. Just some of the attractions were the Red Devils Parachute display team showed off their skills both in freefall and under canopy. Then some amazing air displays from a group of WWI Bi and Tri planes, with some very professional synchronised and formation flying. They then went on to provide a spectacular air combat and dog fighting display.
Later in the day we were entertained by a Spitfire and Mustang, looping and turning around the castle and its grounds, as only they can. The spitfire with it Rolls Royce Merlin engine creating an unforgettable roar, and with the grace and pose of the air frame, twisting and turning, along with the Mustang and its sharp lines and brute force looks, creating an aerial ballet. Then to close the air show the “Sally B”, B17 flying fortress gracefully swooped and turned with the bomb bay doors open. That was just in the air! On the ground there were Calvary displays, a charity Football match, Fun Fair, arts and crafts, re-enactments of everything WWI and WWII. From troops and weapons, to digging for Victory and Land girls. They was even an ARP Vehicle and rescue set up.
On the stage were various singing artists with the Spitfire Girls performing some memorable tunes from the 40’s, and the show was closed by Alexandra Burke with some of her latest hits. In between acts there was entertainment in the other tents and bars with dancers dressed in period costumes. It truly was a great day out and well worth the entrance fee. Did I mention Battlefield South was there?
However if you missed that, fear not because at the end of August, it is back. Allegedly for the last time, it’s the big one (for Gosport), it is the finale. As always entrance is free, with live music, arts and crafts stalls, fair ground rides, and Battlefield South, Forton Fest 2014 is coming. So book the date in your diary, and make sure you don’t miss out.
