The War And Peace Revival 2018

To say we are pleased doesn’t really cut it, we are ecstatic to announce that not only will we be attending The War and Peace Revival 2018, but we will be there for the whole week (all five days). For those that don‘t know The War and Peace Revival is certainly the biggest show of its kind in the UK if not all of Europe. It is arguably the largest gathering of vintage military vehicles in the world. But don’t think it is just big boys toys, there is attraction for the whole family.
Held at Hop Farm Family Park, Maidstone Road, Paddock wood, TN12 6PY in Kent, (which is just a stones throw away from Tonbridge, Royal Turnbridge Wells and Maidstone), This year the dates of the show are 24th to the 28th July (inclusive). The show offers numerous living history and re enactor groups, including UK, US, Soviet, and German forces, as well as UK Home Front, and Vintage to (just off) current military vehicles, a fair, stalls and traders of all sorts. It not only has a big paddock for vehicles and events, but a large arena with a whole host of armoured fighting vehicles moving and firing. There will be classic vehicles, and even a make a take away tent with scale models. Each day there is live entertainment both during the day and in the early evenings.
We understand that there will not only be a static display but also a fly past by some of the aircraft from the Biggin Hill heritage Hanger. This organisation stores and restores old military aircraft, and their collection includes 13 Spitfires, several Hurricans and also a Messerschmitt 109. To date the team at the hanger have restored 6 spitfires to flying condition, with many more awaiting their turn. They often send some of their aircraft to the Flying legends Air Show at IWM Duxford. So for an extra opportunity to see these great machines in the air here is your chance.
Each day starts at 9 am and closes at 16pm, unless you are staying for the evening entertainment of live singing and bands.
Public camping is available with toilet and shower facilities. For Tickets and more information click here for their web site. Parking is free (as are under 15 year olds) and there is even a shuttle bus to and from Paddock wood train station!

That is May done and dusted

As May draws to a close, it is time to reflect on what must have been one of our busiest months ever. We travelled in excess of 700 miles, attended nine days of public events and
started over 1000 games. Also that doesn’t take in our private functions and events. On the down side we have had a few casualties by way of equipment, however considering the number of games played it was minimal.
So what is next I hear you ask. Due to private events and other commitments (staff studying, exams etc) June is going to be a quiet month although we will be busy most of the time. Our next public event is on Saturday 30 June at Tidworth Garrison Armed forces day. This is being held on the sports field on the A388 and St Andrew’s Road. There will be lots of stalls, inflatable rides, possibly a beer tent, arts and crafts, and much more. The fun starts at midday and is due to close at 5 pm, however for more information see their face book page (click here) For a relatively new event it should be well worth a visit.
Then on Sunday the 1 July we will be at the Blind Veterans armed forces day. The event is being held at Blind Veterans Centre in Ovingdean, Brighton starting at 10:30 am and closing at 4 pm, there will be a full arena with a military marching band, Sussex Cadet Kit Car Challenge, Military and classic vehicles, Have a go archery, craft stalls and refreshments. Not forgetting Battlefield South will be at both events!
