The Big week starts with the Bridgemary Carnival. Opening at 11am on Saturday 21 July, entrance is free and the parade circles the block which contains Bridgemary school. As always there will be something for everyone, with food and drink stalls, tombola, craft stalls, arena events, and of course the carnival parade. So don’t miss out, come along and support the local charities and school.
For those of you who live further away, (London Town!) don’t forget we will be hot footing it to Damyn’s Hall Aerodrome, in Upminster straight after the carnival so we can set up for the Wings and Wheels Family festival. There is a live tribute concert, (Havering Live) on Saturday night (open from 4 pm to 10 pm) Ticket prices are £20 for adults and free for under 14 year olds, (this includes entry for the main event on Sunday 22) The show opens on Sunday 22 July at 10 am and closes at 5pm. Parking is free, and entrance £7 per person (under 14 are free) There will be lots for every one of the family, with a whole host of classic cars and bikes, static Aircraft displays, and possibly the odd fly past, (this is not an Air Show!). Food and drink (beer tent) stalls, Living history / Re enactor groups and vintage military vehicles. As well as helicopter rides (£45 per person and last 5 minutes)and so much more. All in aid of Havering Mind charity, it is a great day out. For more information visit their web site
Then on to The War and Peace Revival 2018, where we will be all week (all five days). For those that don‘t know The War and Peace Revival is certainly the biggest show of its kind in the UK if not all of Europe. It is arguably the largest gathering of vintage military vehicles in the world. But don’t think it is just big boy’s toys, there is attraction for the whole family.
Held at Hop Farm Family Park, Maidstone Road, Paddock wood, TN12 6PY in Kent, (which is just a stones throw away from Tonbridge, Royal Turnbridge Wells and Maidstone), This year the dates of the show are 24th to the 28th July (inclusive). The show offers numerous living history and re enactor groups, including UK, US, Soviet, and German forces, as well as UK Home Front, and Vintage to (just off) current military vehicles, a fair, stalls and traders of all sorts. It not only has a big paddock for vehicles and events, but a large arena with a whole host of armoured fighting vehicles moving and firing. There will be classic vehicles, and even a make a take away tent with scale models. Each day there is live entertainment both during the day and in the early evenings. It is so well worth a visit!
